Robbie McCarthy (1989) is quite possibly the world's only instrumental composer and professional automobile mechanic. In addition to writing thematic works for chamber ensembles across the globe, Robbie spends much of his time traveling the United States and teaching people the art of classic car restoration. He can also be heard playing oboe, English horn, percussion, and EWI on several albums, none of which belong in the classical realm. When not playing music or servicing automobiles around the country, McCarthy can usually be found relaxing at one of his favorite San Diego beaches, eating pizza at a local craft brewery, or camping with friends without cell service.
